Cannabis Oil & Parkinson’s Disease: A Possible Cure?

Share this post with your friends

Parkinson’s disease is one of the most common neurological disorders in the United States, affecting nearly 1 million people. Symptoms like tremors, impaired movement & poor coordination can often be debilitating. However, cannabis oil has helped suppress these symptoms, and research suggests that marijuana can aid in slowing the progression of the disease.

According to Medical News Today, “researchers note that medical marijuana has been approved in various U.S. states to treat symptoms of cancer, HIV/AIDS,glaucoma, chronic pain, seizures, cachexia, and multiple sclerosis.

Recently, another study suggested that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the active compound in marijuana – reduced beta-amyloid levels in nerve cells, a protein considered a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease […] There is currently no cure for the disease; treatments carry with them several limitations and do not slow progression of PD.”

In this study, researchers say that the endocannabinoid system plays a vital role in Parkinson’s disease, noting that aspects of the EC system “are highly expressed in the neural circuit of basal ganglia, which is part of a complex neuronal system.”

Cannabis has been proven to stop symptoms of PD in its tracks, even in the wake of tremors. In this video linked below, just a little bit of cannabis oil almost immediately relieves a man suffering from various symptomatic ailments associated with PD:

Using cannabis for symptom relief is a breakthrough, but the real wowing findings are that the anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties of cannabis may prevent neuron damage in PD patients. Medical News Today states: “The researchers say inflammation can damage neurons that produce dopamine – the lack of which contributes to movement problems in Parkinson’s. As such, they say preventing neuron damage could slow PD progression.”
